Haloes going MAD
The Data
Prior to the workshop we are going to provide the participants with a set of data files to be analysed with their particular halo finder. This data will include:
1. mock haloes:
• a host halo following a pre-defined NFW and/or Hernquist density profile
• a single subhalo embedded within a host halo, both following again an NFW or Hernquist density profile
• a sub-subhalo embedded within ... (you get the idea)
• a partially disrupted subhalo within a host halo (remnant & streams to be discovered!)
➡ what masses and density profiles will different halo finders recover...
2.a full cosmological box:
• a LCDM simulation to derive...
➡ the mass function
➡ the spin parameter distribution
➡ the concentration-mass relation
➡ the subhalo mass function for the largest object
3.a re-simulation of an individual galaxy group:
• the Local Group of galaxies (i.e. MW, M31 and M33) in various resolutions
➡ here the focus obviously lies with the properties of subhaloes...
